From that what I read in fengshui column, if you put things below of the staircase the things that you like, there is a high change that you will become successful to it  It depends what things you have put there.  There is a story behind this putting stuff bellow staircase. It came from a successful business woman.  Without any thoughts about the fengshui, the woman put all his luggage and travel organizers below the staircase. Days came by that series of travel opportunities came to her life.

Another story is a mother made a study room below the staircase for her child and her child was an achiever in his studies.

Whether this is true or not. Having a study or business room below the staircase is a very good idea. To maximize the house space that adds a unique corner in your house. Who knows, you might get a good chance of getting successful in your business or studies just like the stories I have read.
